As I shake off 2020, my main personal goal this year is to nourish and provide self-care to myself. That’s right! I am being selfish…or not! It’s so important that we take care of ourselves and rest when we need to. Our society moves so fast all the time. We are constantly asked to shift everything on the drop of a dime. Over time that takes a toll on our physical and mental health. Big time!

So this year, I am dedicated to myself! To self growth. To rest. To growing my emotional and energetic body. To my relationships, especially to myself. Each month I will plan out a new realm to explore to help grow in that direction.

My self-growth challenge for Feb was to do Yoga 4 times a week. I carefully planned out my first week so I knew when I would be able to accomplish my 4 day yoga sessions. If you are anything like me, if it's not penciled in, then it wont get taken care of!

On day one, I found a pretty good and moderate class online that I dove right into. About halfway through the first class, I hurt my wrist doing downward dog. I thought "Ouch is this what happens at 40!" But instead of giving in, I decided that I should focus on breath and deep stretch meditation until it felt better.  After a bout of self-doubt, I thought…wait this is just part of the process, and I need to listen to what my body actually needs right now.  So with a deep breath, I found this great yoga and stress relief course online. It was short and felt so good to my body and mind. After a few days with this yoga, I realized this was exactly what I needed. I was shocked to discover how sore my body was after not much movement and a wild ride of 2020. My body needed this so bad; it became something that I craved.

While adding yoga into my weekly rituals, I continued my Hypnosis sessions with Mary Lou Rodriguez and tried to find the balance and peace to allow these self-care traditions to grow and flourish with me into the Spring. It is a constant reminder to myself that it is okay to do the things that feel good to my body and mind. To stop and smell the flowers that are budding and take a moment to reflect.

Beginning in March, I will be diving into a detox of anti-inflammatory foods. If you want to check out our Anti-Inflammatory Guidelines, email us at info@theherbshoppepharmacy.com and we will send you a copy with instructions!
