Mentha pulegium
Pennyroyal is an aromatic calming herb useful for nervous indigestion, expelling gas, and reducing nausea and upset stomach. It can jumpstart suppressed menses and ease PMS symptoms including cramping, bloating, anxiety, and digestive upset. For this purpose, it is often mixed with mugwort, motherwort, or cramp bark. It is an excellent nervine in general, helping to relax and calm, and can be useful for headaches especially when stress and tension are involved. Pennyroyal is also taken as a tea to help reduce fevers, and its antimicrobial properties may help alleviate colds and flus.
