Rue is a bitter, pungent, warming herb with a surprising scent reminiscent of tropical fruit. It has an affinity towards nerves, tendons, the circulatory system, the liver, the spleen, and the uterus. Healers have used rue tea for muscle spasms and strains, menstrual cramps, stagnant menses, sexual trauma, and circulation issues. This is a powerful and potentially dangerous plant. It must be used with caution and awareness of risks.
*Rue is toxic when taken in excess. Dose carefully, and use only for short periods. Skin contact with the fresh plant or certain rue products can cause severe skin reactions to sunlight. Rue is a potent blood-mover, and has abortifacient effects. Do not take during pregnancy or nursing. As with all of our product descriptions, this should not be considered a full list of all possible contraindications*
