Self-heal is a wonderful mucilaginous herb for a number of skin conditions, including wounds, insect bites, rashes, Herpes, and eczema. It is a cooling plant that draws out heat. Self-heal makes a nice gargle for sore throats and inflamed tonsils. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is recommended for purging heat from the liver and for nourishing the kidneys.
