Chaga is a medicinal mushroom that generally grows on birch trees. It has been used as folk medicine in Russia and Northern European countries for hundreds of years. It is prized for its immuno-stimulant, anti-inflammatory, and hepato-protective properties. It is extremely high in antioxidants. Chaga is great for inflammation of the bowels associated with gastritis, Crohn's Diease, Ulcerative Colitis, and IBS. Like most medicinal mushrooms, it is rich in beta-glucans, which are immunomodulating. It may also help to lower blood sugar levels.
